Nestled amidst the evergreen high ranges of Kerala, Peermedu is one of the finest holiday destinations in India. Located at Kuttikkanam, the hill station is 914 metres (3600 feet) above mean sea level, 75 km from Kottayam and 130 km from the Cochin International Airport. Thekkady, home of the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve, is 35 km to the east of Peermedu. Peermedu has a cool, bracing climate, with vast expanses of dense vegetation. Pearly waterfalls, green- painted grasslands, shimmering brooks, crystalline watersprings, mist-laden mountains and free-roaming animals are some of the handiworks of Nature that make Peermedu a fascinating land of unlimited fun and pleasure. Peermedu has been named after the Muslim sage Peermohamed, whose historic tomb is still here. The fabled Mangala Devi temple and the majestic British church of Pallikunnu are just a hop away. The natural beauty of Peermedu is enhanced by waves and waves of rolling plantations of tea, cardamom, pepper and rare herbs.
